Some of the most common dental procedures we perform include teeth cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, veneers, implants, and extractions. Teeth cleanings are an important part of preventive dentistry and are typically performed every six months.

Tooth Care Tips & Questions

You may have heard the saying that you should be brushing your teeth twice a day – once in the morning and once at night. But is that all you need to be doing?

The truth is you should be brushing your teeth at least twice a day, according to the American Dental Association (ADA). You could go the extra mile for your oral health and brush before each meal as well as before bed. If you brush before your meal, wait 30 minutes before eating. If you choose to brush after your meal, you should wait then too, as the acids from your food could do more harm if they are being brushed into your teeth directly after eating. Drink a glass of water to regulate your mouth's pH and then brush 30 minutes after your meal.

The Importance of Regular Dental Checkups and Cleanings

Because brushing and flossing can only do so much. Over time, plaque builds up on teeth which can lead to cavities or gum disease – no matter how well you take care of your teeth at home! During a professional cleaning, our hygienists at Traditions Dental will remove any built-up plaque or tartar on your teeth that may be difficult to reach with just brushing and flossing alone. A routine dental exam allows your dentist not only to evaluate the health of your mouth but also screen for any potential oral cancerous growths or other problems such as tooth decay or alignment issues.

What you can expect during your first dental checkup?

At Traditions, we will take a thorough medical and dental history. Be prepared to answer questions about your oral hygiene habits, diet, tobacco use, and any medications you're taking. We will also perform a physical examination of your teeth, gums, and mouth. Lastly, we will also check for signs of gum disease and other conditions. X-rays may be taken to evaluate the health of your teeth and jaws. Based on the findings from these tests, Dr. Nick will develop a treatment plan customized for you.

What can you do in between visits to keep your smile healthy?

Brush twice a day for two minutes each time, using fluoride toothpaste. Brushing removes plaque—a sticky film of food debris, bacteria, and saliva—from teeth. Be sure to use gentle circular motions and brush on all surfaces of your teeth, including along the gum line. And don’t forget to brush your tongue! This helps remove bacteria that cause bad breath. Also, floss daily to remove plaque and bacteria from between your teeth and along the gum line where brushing alone cannot reach. Rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash once a day after brushing and flossing to help reduce plaque buildup and freshen breath. Finally, visit Dr. Nick every 6 months for professional cleanings and checkups!

A gentle and caring dental experience!

HAPPY CLIENTS

Dr. Nick was professional and attentive. I was there with my 2 sons for our normal cleaning. My oldest is special needs and everyone was very understanding and worked well with him. Love this staff! They are all awesome there!!

I had a broken filling. I was thankful that my dental office, Traditions Dental, was willing to see me right away. Dr Nick even was able to replace the filling for me on the same day. His skill was excellent and his technique was painless. Thank you Traditions Dental and Dr Nick!

We've been patients here for years. The hygienist are fabulous, funny and quick but do a thorough job. The office staff are wonderful as well, very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Always very affordable and tell you upfront what things will cost.  Compared to other dentists that I have used in the past,  they only offer procedures that are needed and don't try to push additional treatments. When we have had procedures done, they were quick and easy. Always a pleasant experience. Dr. Nick has been great both times we've seen him and the environment he has created makes us feel right at home.
